Sunfare
Your Personal Nutritionist

As one of the most demanding sports in the world, few others require as much from the human body as mixed martial arts.  The constant wear and tear on the body from conditioning, sparring, weight training and other forms of hell these athletes put themselves through requires two vital components: rest and proper nutrition.

While rest is simple enough - just go to sleep - nutrition can be drastically more complicated.  Questions like, how much should I eat? What should I eat? How often?  What if I'm cutting weight?  Trying to gain weight?  What if I do not like the food I'm supposed to eat?  And who is going to cook all this?  Fortunately for athletes, and your average Joe alike, Sunfare found the answer.

Founded in 1997 by nutritionist John Stewart and personal trainer Carl Ferro, Sunfare was the result of their frustration in getting customers to accomplish seemingly realistic health goals.  "People would come in and we could educate them, but as soon as they walked out the door, their blood sugar would drop and they would eat whatever they cold find," explains Stewart.

Eventually they came to the conclusion that if their clients were not going to find the food they needed, the would bring it to them.  Starting off with just on client, Stewart and Ferro found a caterer with the capabilities to pick, prepare and deliver the right kinds of food for those looking for nutritional help.  The experiment was such a success that word of mouth quickly spread.  Today, Sunfare services thousands of clients in the Los Angeles and Phoenix/Scottsdale areas with 90% of their customers finding Sunfare though word of mouth.

The Sunfare plan starts with customizing specific nutritional goals with the help of a Sunfare professional .  Once the nutritional goals are defined, the new client fills out a questionnaire stating what he does not like to  eat.  " We offer all different kinds of choices for someone to stick to their nutritional goals," explains Stewart.  Making sure they deliver only foods their client enjoys helps ensure the customer sticks to their plan.  The portion and number of meals vary depending on which plan you choose.  The food is then cooked fresh everyday and delivered to your doorstep every morning.

For an MMA fighter, Sunfare solves the problem of not knowing what to eat, when to eat it, how much to eat and the time needed to prepare it.  "Nutrition is everything," Stewart states. "You can exercise the body all you want, but if you do not give it the right fuel, it cannot perform." For the up and coming MMA fighter who cannot afford to pay a nutritionist, Sunfare has found a way to fill that gap,.

But how good can delivered food be?  "It's not this frozen or freeze dried stuff," Stewart explains.  "This is real. You are getting real fruits and vegetables,." Sunfare has many gourmet options including meals and snacks like American omelets, chicken scallopini and citrus salmon.  An extensive vegetarian menu is also available.

While Stewart and Ferro originally designed Sunfare to help the average person with modest nutritional goals, athletes and celebrities alike took notice of Sunfare, looking for that extra edge in nutrition.  Hollywood stars like Charlie Sheen, Denise Richards and Kate Beckinsale have used Sunfare, as well as Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner, Los Angeles Laker Lamar Odom and Los Angeles Dodger Brad Penny.

In today's modern day, fast-paced world of burgers and French fries, John Stewart and Carl Ferro strive to bring their clients all the possible tools needed to reach their goals whether it be dropping a few pounds, feeling more energetic training for a marathon or winning that coveted UFC title.
