We have met for lunch this sunny day on the patio of the Los Angeles Four Seasons Hotel, a venue chosen by Black because he is staying here for a while.  He arrives at the table carrying a light brown bag.  This, it transpires, contains all his food for the day and is delivered to the concierge each morning from a company called Sunfare that specializes in such diets.
